Daily Reads

by GYPoh

Seems like the only interest my daily reads have generated is the link to jphotobook with it's "artistic" pictures. You people make me sick! Anyway more of the same since this is probably the easiest way for me to update and maintain the blog on a more regular basis. Other contributors could do the same as there can never be enough interesting links on the web eh?

Following the furor generated by the PM's annoucement to increase GST to 7%, I felt the need to seek out more neutral opinions instead of the usual outcries of death to the government that has become the norm for netizens whenever a new government policy is annouced. Andy Mukherjee, a columnist with Bloomberg living in Singapore, sums up nicely the reprecussions of the planned GST hike. A good and short read for the economic and social ramifications of the proposed hike.

Fans of Liverpool weep! For it seems our only reasonable target this season is fourth place in the premiership. How the mighty have fallen. With only less than a third of the season gone no less...

Underneath all the moaning about GST, let us not forget that several fundamental changes have also been made to our penal code. Much joy to those who enjoy a little bit of spice and adventure in the bedroom, you now have no fear that at any moment a SWAT team will burst through your door and arrest you. However admist some of the changes is a little gem that perhaps escaped your eyes. Already strict controls on internet content have now been made tighter with harsher penalties. Read what the FT and IFEX has to say.

Entertainment news, and reports say that Oprah is not invited to TomKat's wedding. Could this be due to a little couch-jumping incident? And for all you closet Kylie fans (myself included), looks like she's back doing the locomotion!
