These are some of my favourite moments at Southpark.

Warning, this shit might be too controversial for the blog's current theme...

Space Filler

Since the absence of posts in recent weeks, fans of this vastly popular blog have been clamouring for updates. I have to admit I've been a tad lazy with the updates, so I'm making an effort at this ungodly hour for the fans. I've got nothing much to update honestly, so here are some photos of the opening of the latest night spot in Singapore. For the brothers overseas, drinks are on me at this happening nightspot when you boys get back.

Date: 19th Jan 2007
Venue: Cafe del Mar, Siloso Beach, Sentosa
Time: 1930 till late

Party got underway with the Ibiza style beach club.

Chilling at members area.

View of the club's outside sitting from members area.

View of entrance from members area.

Main pool of Cafe del Mar. Picture doesn't do it justice though. Much nicer in reality.

That's all I've got I'm afraid. Hope the rest of you GYs will have more to update. CNY is round the corner, let's get together soon to usher in the new year!

Warcraft, 3 Corridor, D-Day and now DOTA

Warcraft has revived itself in me. Staying in hostel like accomodation, its no wonder I am beginning to hear "Our Hero has Fallen" ringing in my ears once again. Defence of The Ancient, a new map, with lots of items to buy. It does help in passing time in Perth. Felt like years since I touched down on Perth, but, it has oni been a short 3 weeks of stay here.

A quick flashback:

The Corridor.

Inside.

Outside.

1989 Nissan Pintara.. A$1320. My first car, or rather, my first quarter of a car.

Hayabusa at Fremantle - Not mine.

Gordon Street - Not mine either.

Fremantle Fish n Chips - Not Free, Not Cheap. But it was mine.

Cottesloe Beach

Wedding InStyle

Poh, Kate should get one of these for her Wedding.

33 more weeks, 200 hours of flying, many seasons of drama serials and endless games of Dota to go before my scheduled return. Till then, this shall be my home...

The Daniela Cicarelli Video

cicarelli
Uploaded by dratoa

Think some of you might have heard of this video that has caused Youtube to be banned in Brazil until it is taken off. Personally I don't think there's anything there. Not even mild nudity... Have a look yourself. For those of you that find the name unfamiliar, she's Ronaldo's (the fat one) ex-wife.

Match Report

Date: 7th Jan 2007
Time: 0930
Stadium: Tanglin Pitch 4
Opponents: Adrian's Team (AT)

A trip back to Tanglin for the GYs brought back memories of the last away game at Tanglin where the GYs were humbled 5-1. The recent winter break hit the GYs hard with injuries to almost half the starting eleven. Tabloids with tales of debauchery from the GYFC players during the holiday season resulting in the so-called inhuries. The recall of CSC from loan in Hong Kong marginally boosted the depth of the team, but even so, with also 1 reserve on the bench, the GYs went into the match with trepidation.

The GYs were furthered rattled when AT had NINE on the bench. Fearing a thumping by AT, the GYs started the match shakily and were soon caught on the break. 1-0 to AT. However nerves soon settled and a good play by AkinbiYI on the byline resulted in an inch-perfect cross for Adebayor TOH to head home. 1-1 at half time.

Second half play was similar to the first but as time wore on the GYs were clearly losing out on the fitness department with AT throwing in their substitutes every 5 min. But a good strike again by Adebayor TOH gave the GYs the lead. Desperately holding on their lead, the GYs were slowly losing focus, perhaps due to the winter weather and the depleting fitness levels. In a moment of miscommunication, AT equalised and it was all tied. Game ended 2-2.

Man of the match: Zhi Ruiberto for managing to get some "elusive" DVDs back from the land of the rising sun.

Different Country, Same Sh|t

I could have replied via a reply, but felt this is better.

I can understand your pure grief and angst, for it is no better in the UK.
Everything takes about 10 times the time to get set up, customer service lines gets diverted to India and people generally do not care.

But after a while here ... it makes me think a bit more

1) Singapore has one of the best customer service / support in the world, but Singaporeans don't understand in general and keep on complaining when things do not go their way.

2) (maybe it does not apply to you) The reason why services suck elsewhere is because people work much less. So basically, for me, the choice is simple - work like a pig in Singapore, get no time to enjoy entertainment anyway OR work like a human being, enjoy human rights and suffer rubbish services at times.

So yah ... do blog about your banking experience. In the UK what happens is without a bank account you cannot rent a flat. But without a permanent address you cannot open a bank account. Your accommodation is sorted I am sure so... you should already breathe a sigh of relief.

Take Care - we should msn chat one day, can do 4 continents again if 2007 Gav is online.

Same Shlt, Different Year. More Shlt, Different Country

4 January 2007, Day 2 in Perth.

Today, I had my first brush with f#%ked up Aussies. I was trying to activate my prepaid sim card from @ptus. Firstly, the website for activation had some error, so it could not be activated online. Thus I had to call a certain number to activate it. After giving the customer service officer some details… and while still asking about the various different type of plans they have, (they had different kind of plans for prepaid mobile but the rates and charges aren’t stated clearly on the website), the line was suddenly cut off. But this lady still went on and activated my card on a plan which I did not want!

I called back the same number but another customer service officer told me there’s nothing she could do coz the card was already activated and the f*%ked up thing is.. I will be charged for this second call that I made. She went on to tell me that I have to call another customer service number to tell them my problems. But I will be charged for that call too.

So I called the other customer service number thinking they can change my prepaid plan and restore my value which was wasted on calling them due to their incompetent service. knnbccb. After 20mins.. I was still holding the phone waiting to speak to a customer service officer. Till this point I didn’t know if my call is charged per min or per call. But I believed they can reinstate my card value and change my plan.. so.. i waited.

Finally another guy picked up the call. This was what the guy said…"not a problem, Sir.. your plan can be switched... but please take note that u will have to forfeit your bonus value blahblahblah.." (some promotion stuff which are given for new prepaid card activation only)wtf! I have to forfeit my entitlement due to a customer service officer's fault? I tried to kaopei some logic to him… but he kept repeating.. "There’s nothing I can do sir. Anyway.. with this plan.. it is better.. coz u can make more calls..." ya .. of coz I can make more calls.. coz i will end up having to pay more ..... to my horror...... there’s REALLI nothing he can do about it... coz its already activated. This would mean that… I am stuck with a plan that I do not want, and I just wasted some of my card's value calling them to find out how incompetent they are... wtf...knnbccb x 2.

I kaopeikaobu for quite a while.. until in the end.. he sort of felt my frustration.. and decided to give me $10 credit to my account "out of goodwill". Not the best.. but better than nothing. Another consolation for me when I found out that this call that I just made.. which lasted probably 30mins... was charged at per call flat rate. By the way...in SG.. calling the telco's cust service is free of charge.

It’s no wonder aussies are so relaxed.. working 4.5 days every week... their systems are damn bloody f%$ked up... Website not working properly, mobile network dropped my call, customer service officer made unsound decisions on my behalf and customer service officers who can't do shlt.

When I told a fren who used to study in Australia about what happened.. . all he said was.. "its like that.. get used to it... it will be worse when u go to the banks here... WELCOME TO AUSTRALIA"

A Different Kinda MTV...
