GY Match Review

On the backleg of a 7-0 whipping by the samba boys, the GYs were naturally in slight trepidation during the build-up to the match. The gaffer made significant changes and made a slightly surprising lineup, pushing JINGmie Carragher and HENGry to the middle of the pitch. A new ultility player, signed 24 hours before the match, was also revealed before the kick off. HUBERTo Silva started the match between the posts but soon moved to a more familar defensive position.

The opponents WAAFC (weak ass airforce FC) never had a chance right from the start. Fueled by the new changes and the determination to end the year on a high note, the GYs opened their scoring account early on with a rare strike from JINGmie Carragher.

Halftime and the boys took a deserving lead into the break. Talk of the first clean sheet in two and a half years were rife in the air. Surprisingly the number one, Adrian, was nowhere to be seen. Rumours of a January transfer were picked up by the tabloids.

Second half did not start off as brightly as the first, due perhaps in part of the aging team of GYs who never had much fitness to start with. Good goals from AkinbiYI, POHdolski and XaVIN AloHO effectively killed off the game and left WAAFC in shambles. 4-0 to the GYs.

The beautiful game was however marred by the sending off of 2 WAs (weak asses) and ROYnaldo (the fat one), in a shoving and spitting incident. Match official Dave is currently considering opening a police investigation. In a swift act of discipline, GYFC officials released a statement at press time stating that they do not condone such acts of violence from their players and ROYnaldo has been fined 1 week of wage amouting to GBP0.00 (approximately SGD0.00) and will start the next match between the posts regardless of who the 11th man is.

ESPN play of the day: HUBERTo Silva actually producing a pair of spare boots when KOKnavarro asked for it.

Man of the match: HUBERTo Silva for the exact same reason.

Winter break beckons and the holidays are calling. Have a good holiday season GYs all over the world and keep yourselves safe and out of trouble. See you all at the next gathering.

G@Y week in Review

From the emails that were exchanged this week, here is a lowdown of what has passed in the week of GY.
GY Beng actually mixed up dreams with reality. GYFC did lose 7-0. But as it was to Brazil, it's very forgivable.
Repeat GY had visited terracotta at Xi'an and is now probably mixing with monks in Tibet. Last heard, he believed that he is Brad Pitt and can spend 7 years there.

GorY informed GYFC kindly that SBS has a superb helpline. If you are on a bus that you think goes somewhere but doesnt, remember to give the call a shout.

On a totally related note, GorY obtained part one of his flying licence. Technically it's frozen. But physically it's online.
We were also told that pilots had to learn waitering skills in case the chief steward falls ill/die during a flight.
True to his roots, tuG@Y had a pendicure. He also went to a sex romp in Thailand.
Australia beat England by 6 wickets in a hell of a cricket match in Test 2 of the Ashes.

Spirits Dampened......

Torrential rain in the morning branded today's weekly GYFC match a no-show. The spirits in the GY camp were clearly dampened. Following last week's resounding victory, everyone was clearly eager to put in another magnificent display. It was not meant to be. Well, it's the monsoon season.

On a seperate note, i went back to sleep after receiving the news that the match was cancelled and i had a dream. I dreamt that we were on the wrong end of a 7-0 thrashing by a team in yellow, and yes, i vaguely remembered that it was the brazilian national team. Luckily it was nothing more than a dream.....
